Android 4.0.4 ICS on samsung wave I S8500 ROOTED

Its been hardly a week now Android on Samsung wave 1 S8500 is Rooted
yes you heard me, its ROOTED, that means more functionality from your Samsung wave phone.
thanks to xda Devs they have created a new zImage for your android
The touch calibration has been made, so the left part of your screen which was facing touch issues is resolved now.

Steps
1) Copy and replace this zImage in your phone memory with this one here >> http://data.hu/get/5295695/zImage (Use the “Lassú letöltés” button in mid page to download).
2) use unlocktroot tool to root your wave >> http://www.unlockroot.com
3) Download unlockroot tool from above link and install
4) Connect ur android on samsung wave to pc, make sure usb debugging is on
5) Click on root
6) it will ask to install a driver, click on install driver anyway , the second option (in win 7)
7) Wait for root to complete
3) Done ;)
Enjoy

can anyone might explain what that means?
what is the difference between the already publisched adroid 4.0 and that?

here the screendrivers work 100% and you can overclock the wave till 1600MHz (standard 1000MHz)

and you can use android apps that need a rooted phone

ps: you need a x86/32 bit pc to root it.

on a x64/64 bit pc, the drivers won’t install.

      1. Roy

My desktop is using windows 7 64bit. I can install the drivers. I just need to install it manually at device manager.

      fix here:

i’m also using windows 7 64bit. i able to root my wave using this method:
(make sure you have connected your wave in ICS and USB debugging is turn on)

      1. Download the SDK from android website.

      2. open the Android SDK Manager, then just tick at Google USB driver.
      Uncheck everything else

      3. Click at “install 1 package..” button. Wait until finish.

      4. go to device manager. Search for samsung?

      5. Right click then choose update driver. Choose manual instead of automatic.

      6. Browse to C:\Users\\AppData\Local\Android\android-sdk\extras\google\usb_driver

      7. Click Ok. Wait until installation finish.

      8. Open Unlock Root program on your PC. Click “Root” button. Then there will be pop up. Click on Samsung Wave Android ICS 4.0.4

      9. Wait again until the program boots your Wave.

      10. Your wave is now rooted.

        found easy way
first download any driver sanner… i downloaded driver identifier free one day trial, then download “android composite adb interface” latest driver and install by device manager after connecting phone…. It worked for me.

i followed this tutorial(this steps very easy to follow) but didn’t worked for me..tried 4 xp 32b units..then tried 2 win7 64b units, all 6 units patch to latest windows updates n drivers..and i have all the needed drivers this steps mentioned and applied correctly but my samsung wave still can’t be detected with all the units i tried..i cant’ root it because i’m stock at usb debugging step..i can’t access the phone trough usb while booted up ics 4.0.4, so I end up at using aokp 1.3 w/o rooting it.
      ..wave 1 user
..amazing turkoCFW v8/badadroid AOKP V1.3 dual boot installed

O btw guys, according to trooperFX u can OC wave1, yes that’s true AOKP has a plugin, just install v1.3 and u can clock it at 1.5mhz..use it at your own risk..hehehe

After rooting, how do we overclock the CPU ?

Should we be installing some other custom rom again or is that the original ZImage only has the necessary modifications for overclocking ?

If ZImage has this already then from where do we access the menu and modify the MHz value ?

      1. spraju

then what’s the use of this rooting ?

At least, after rooting can we run some apps like Temple Run etc which don’t run on the original Polish Blood Rom ?

  15. sandy

hi guyz excellent work now i can see the real power of android with the same hardware. comparing fruit ninja in bada is a bit slow but in ics its like butter. however is there any way the internal storage can be increased bcoz even after moving apps to sd card still the apps use some internal storage hence decreasing it with each new app installed.

    thanks in advanc

    1. deeps_17 Post author

that wont transfer it to your removable sd card

in this version a dedicated amt of memory is given to sd
i guess 12mb of sd card is given as temporary storage

      dun get mislead

installing another app will make ur device more slower
this is just an alpha build

      wait for a beta release

  16. subha

Hey guys ! someone plz make a custom android rom for samsung wave 3
    i am bored using bada 2.0 ….

    1. deeps_17 Post author

wave 2 guys are also waiting in line
as devs have mentioned only abt wave 2

getting android fr wave 3 wud be difficult
      or may take more time

  17. joe

  18. sandy

go to settings>apps>sdcard (tab) select any app then click on move to sd card button for batch transfer of apps to sd card download titanium backup from google play

    i’ve rooted my phone properly…..i’ve got superuser kind of thing n ntng else……no changes….no network….no battery……………..

    1. deeps_17 Post author

      its not becuase of rooting
its because of a bug in zImage
wch reads ur sd card in initframs

just wait for a minute or so til everything gets loaded
then it shud run more smooth

  20. jtamm

    Hello!
Can please someone make it really clear, how can I copy and replace the zImage? I didn’t find such file in my phone memory that I could simply overwrite it.
    Thank you in advance.

        1. jtamm

I found out what the problem was: I was in android when trying to copy zImage, but you have to be using bada :)

  21. sandy

hi guyz can you suggest me a cpu overclocking app that can set frequencies up to 1600 MHZ

    thanks in advance

    1. deeps_17 Post author

      Please dont overclock ur device
you end up having a fiery wave
      it will heat up instantly

      your circuits may damage

  22. korda

Guys, can someone tell me how to overclock it? TegraK program needs some kernel,or just crashes, the rest of the programs have scale just up to 1000Mhz?

    Thanks

    1. deeps_17 Post author

Don;t overclock your device in this alpha version,
ur device will become hot instantly
and you have to loose your device

azam… follow the instructions that DK has given, provided that you have 32 bit system on your PC. That method worked for me.

When the root process is completed, reboot your wave manually.

i downloaded the sdk and java sdk. bt no use.

    1. sandy

For installing drivers for rooting the device follow trooperFX’s instructions at comment no #6 or #9 worked for me perfectly.

  29. christopher

I have installed android on my Samsungs wave as per the given steps but I can’t boot to android, even multiloader also gives all files are successfully installed, pls help me!!

  30. sandy

@ cristopher: did you unzip the android folder or you copied the zip folder as it is in the phone memory.

  31. sandy

@ cristopher: to boot into android press ( CALL + CALL END key) keep it pressed for 10- 15 sec then release the Call End Key first then release Call key

  32. sandy

    @ azam :

when you connect ur phone to pc windows will try to download drivers for it but will fail then go to device manager there you should see an uninstalled device in others section named samsung then right click and update drivers set path for the drivers at the path given by TrooperFx then you are done installing it. But if you don’t see samsung in device manager then you might have to do system restore bcoz I faced the same problem and had to do system restore. and follow it again from start again.

  33. azam

hey sandy tanx alot for the instructions…
by the way watis super user app????????????
